Strasbourg won 75-79 against the Turks of Tofas Bursa during the 4th day of the Champions League.
The change of trainer has done SIG good! The Strasbourg club took advantage of the international window to replace Lassi Tuovi with Luca Bianchi after a series of five defeats, and they have just signed their second victory in a row on Tuesday. After Fos-sur-Mer, beaten on Saturday in Betclic Elite, it was Tofas Bursa who bit the dust against the Alsatians. On the occasion of the 4th day of the Champions League, Strasbourg went to win 75-79 in Turkey, and thus confirms their victory of the first leg (94-89 ap).
A mini heist for the French club, which was carried out for a large part of the match. After a tight first quarter, Bursa accelerated to lead 45-36 at halftime. Strasbourg reduced the gap on recovery (49-46), before suffering the storm straddling the third and fourth quarters, with a 12-2 cashed (67-55). But the SIG did not give up and managed a magnificent last quarter, signing a 14-0 in five minutes (69-73), thanks in particular to the Lacombe-Maille duo.
There was then just over a minute to play and Bursa (led by former Monegasque Rob Gray, author of 27 points) remained at -2 for a long time, before Marcus Keene scored his two free throws to seal Strasbourg’s victory. Matt Mitchell, author of 25 points, was another architect of this precious success, which allows SIG to lead Group A with three victories, before receiving Murcia in two weeks. The Alsatian club is therefore guaranteed, two days before the end, to play, at worst, the play-in at the beginning of January.
