Big scare for Dani Sordo, who saw his Hyundai go up in flames.
The last rally of the season went wrong for Dani Sordo. The Spanish driver and his co-driver were victims of a strange misadventure this Friday when in Japan. During SS2, their Hyundai i20 N Rally 1 simply caught fire.

“The problem happened very early in the special, says Sordo. There was a strong smell of gasoline in the car, and in a straight line the fire caught between the seats and caused a lot of smoke, so I had to stop the car. After a few minutes it started to burn. It was coming from behind and we tried to turn it off but it was absolutely impossible. »

« I’m sorry for the team, losing a car like this is a bad day“, added Sordo, forced to retire.
