PSG: A special number for Ekitike

Arrived at Paris Saint-Germain this summer, Hugo Ekitike chose to wear number 44, taking advantage of the new number regulations in Ligue 1.

Since the lifting of the ban on wearing extravagant numbers in Ligue 1, each player is now allowed to choose the number of their choice between 1 and 99, with 1 still reserved for goalkeepers. Some players have therefore already changed numbers, such as Your Mamadou who swapped his number 3 in Montpellier for 75, in reference to his city of birth, or Chancel Mbembafreshly arrived at OM and who took the number 99.

And of the Lewis Hamilton?

To Parisit’s the new recruit Hugo Ekitike who used this new regulation to take a more original number. Whereas Vitinha took number 17, the former Reims striker announced, via his Instagram story and a Tweet, that he would wear number 44 next season. There does not seem to be any particular reason for this number, perhaps it is a reference to the number of Lewis Hamilton in Formula 1, or simply the lack of numbers available in the capital club, only 11, 13 and 26 being available before 30.
