Kontaveit not demies, pas Krejcikova

Seeded n°1 in Hamburg, Anett Kontaveit qualified for the semi-finals by taking advantage of the abandonment of Andrea Petkovic. It’s over on the other hand for Barbora Krejcikova, swept away by Anastasia Potapova.

Anett Kontaveit did well to ask for a last-minute invitation to the Hamburg tournament. The Estonian, world n°2, will indeed play the semi-finals in Germany, after her victory over Andrea Petkovic. She only needed to spend 40 minutes on court as the German player injured her right thigh and retired when the score was 6-0, 2-0. Kontaveit had then lost only four points on her face-off. She will play her fourth semi-final of the year, after Sydney, St. Petersburg and Doha, against Anastasia Potapova. The Russian player, 63rd in the world, defeated Barbora Krejcikova, 19th in the world and seeded n°3, with a score of 6-1, 6-3 in 1h11, in a match marked by ten breaks. Potapova took serve four times in the first set, then quickly led 4-2 in the second, before finishing 5-3 on her second match point. It will be his second semi-final in a row, after that of Lausanne last week.
