Alcaraz picks up the pace

Seeded number 1 in Hamburg, Carlos Alcaraz enforced the hierarchy and qualified for the quarter-finals at the expense of Filip Krajinovic.

Unlike Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz was not tricked. While the Russian lost to Francisco Cerundolo in the round of 16 of the ATP tournament in Hamburg, the Spaniard was able to take the measure of Filip Krajinovic. However, after a balanced start to the match, the first break point was for the Serb in a fifth game which he concluded by taking the service of the world number 6. The latter found himself a little more back to the wall when, after missing three break points, he saw his opponent multiply the set points. But, despite the fact that he is serving, Filip Krajinovic did not know how to seize his chance. Failing on the occasion of his four opportunities to win this first round, the 43rd player in the world left Carlos Alcaraz hoping and the Spaniard did not miss another break point to return to five games everywhere.

Alcaraz put Krajinovic in a vise

In the process, the Serb had a new opportunity to take the service of the native of Murcia, without however finding the target. Better launched in the deciding game, Filip Krajinovic collapsed, losing five points in a row and the set at the same time. Not wanting to see the match drag on, Carlos Alcaraz quickly hit hard. If the Serb won his first face-off, he then saw four consecutive games. Then erasing one of his two late breaks, Filip Krajinovic never had the opportunity to revive completely. On the contrary, Carlos Alcaraz saw two opportunities to take a double break ahead slipping through his fingers. The number 1 seed in Hamburg concluded the match at his first opportunity, on the serve of his opponent (7-6, 6-3 in 1h54 ‘)with Karen Khachanov who will be his opponent for a place in the last four.
