Forced to play a Match 3 in the LFB quarter-finals against Lattes-Montpellier, the regular season winner Bourges won 86-69 and will face Basket Landes in the semi-finals.
It’s a paradoxical situation, but the only LFB quarter-final that needed to be played on a support match this season is the one that was the most unbalanced on paper, between Bourges, winner of the regular season, and Lattes-Montpellier, eighth. But in the end, the logic was respected, with the 86-69 victory of Berruyères, who therefore joined the last four. If the BLMA had started the match perfectly by leading 0-7, Bourges came back without worrying and concluded the quarter with the score of 21-16. Lattes-Montpellier passed once in front in the second quarter (25-26), but the Tango have generally mastered, to return to the locker room leading 38-33. Led by eight points in the third quarter (49-41), the Héraultaises clung on to equalize at 55-55 and even go ahead (55-56), but Bourges finished strong, to lead 63-58 at the end of the third quarter.
Lattes-Montpellier returned to -3 at the start of the last quarter (63-60), but the BLMA had obviously given everything. He then conceded a 10-0 and Bourges flew away at the end of the match, counting up to 18 points ahead in the money-time, and 17 to finish. No surprise, therefore, the Tango will be well in the last four, and they can say thank you to Isabelle Yacoubou, author of 16 points, but also to Iliana Rpuert, who signed a double-double (11pts, 13rbds). Bourges will be opposed to Basket Landes, the reigning French champion, in the semi-finals, with Match 1 at home next Tuesday and return to Landes on May 20, before a possible Match 3 in Cher on May 23. As for the players of Lattes-Montpellier (15pts for Olivia Epoupa and 14pts for Haley Peters this Friday), they are now on vacation.
