Barely arrived at AS Rome, José Mourinho has already dismissed eight players from his squad, including French midfielder Steven Nzonzi.
José Mourinho’s first press conference, when he arrives at a new club, is often a spectacle. True to his reputation, the Portuguese coach made the show again Thursday, during his official presentation at theAS Rome. Always so sharp in its answers, the “Special One” also distinguished itself by interrupting a journalist. Not to reframe it, as he sometimes knows how to do so well, but to go and tear off the windows of the sunshade panels which caught the wind and made a little too much noise for his liking.
Was it to be understood by that that he intended to clean up the ranks of La Louve? The fact remains that, in the wake, the announcement of the group selected for the preseason has cooled more than one within the workforce. Eight players, and not the least, were not on this list of twenty-seven names. If Jordan Veretout must have been reassured to learn that he was still part of the plans of the “Mou”, this is not the case of Steven Nzonzi. 2018 world champion with the Blues, the midfielder is no longer welcome at Trigoria, the training center.
The one who was loaned to Stade Rennais last season is not the only victim of the new boss giallorosso. Justin Kluivert, Pedro, Javier Pastore, Davide Santon, Ante Coric, Robin Olsen and Federico Fazio were also asked to find a way out. According to Sky Italia, they would all have received a letter warning them of the situation and their placing on the transfer market. The summer therefore promises to be agitated at Roma, in the direction of the departures as in that of the arrivals, José Mourinho having announced that he would have a team “worthy of Mourinho”.
