Chelsea’s schedule has not been easy. After facing Real Madrid in the Champions League, Manchester City in the league, it’s Arsenal’s turn to meet the Blues this Wednesday evening at 9.15 p.m.
For this London derby, Chelsea receives the Arsenal Gunners at Stamford Bridge, as part of the 36th day of the Premier League. Besides the pride of winning such a derby, the stakes tonight are high for both teams. Indeed, Thomas Tuchel’s men want to recover their 3rd place in the league, stolen the day before by Leicester who defeated Manchester United (2-1). As for Mikel Arteta’s men, despite their low chance of joining the Europa League, everything is still possible in terms of points. Perhaps Arsenal’s only advantage is the Blues’ busy schedule which could force the German tactician to rotate. As a reminder, it has been almost ten years since the Gunners have won a match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Currently 9th in the championship, Arsenal can still statistically grab a place in the Europa League. The Blues are keen to extend a series of five unbeaten matches in the league, including a victory against Manchester City (2-1), which is the poster for the final of the Champions League. Arsenal remain victorious in two consecutive matches against West Bromwich and Newcastle, respectively 19th and 16th in the league. The probable composition of Mikel Arteta remains an offensive pattern in 4-2-3-1 with Lacazette at the forefront.
