Tarbes forfeit his first quarter leg against Bourges

Due to cases of coronavirus within its workforce, Tarbes will not be able to play its quarter-final first leg of the LFB play-offs against Bourges on Tuesday.

Bourges is off to a good start in the Final Four of the French championship even before having faced Tarbes in the quarter-finals. The Hautes-Pyrénées club has indeed had to forfeit the first leg, scheduled for Tuesday in its hall, and is therefore inflicted with a 0-20 defeat on the green carpet. The reason ? Tarbes must face cases of coronavirus within its workforce and does not have the number of players required to play this meeting. “The eight teams participating in the play-offs transmitted, as provided for in the health protocol, the results of their covid tests to the LFB Health Group. After examining the elements transmitted, the Federal Health Group decided, during its consultation on April 30, 2021, to validate the sanitary package of Tarbes Gespe Bigorre for the meeting opposing the Tango Bourges Basket initially scheduled for Tuesday, May 4, 2021. , specifies the press release of the Women’s Basketball League. In accordance with the decision taken by the Steering Committee of the FFBB on December 11, 2020 indicating that any team not able to play will be forfeited for the match, Bourges therefore won the match by a score of 20-0. A decision will be taken later concerning the holding of the quarter-final return Bourges – Tarbes scheduled for Saturday 8 May. “It remains to be seen whether a sufficient number of Tarbes players will be tested negative within a week …

Bourges was already a strong favorite

This meeting between Bourges and Tarbes, is, on paper, the most unbalanced of these quarter-finals since the Berruyères finished first in the regular season, with only two defeats in 22 games, and the Tarbaises eighth (9v1-13d) . Lyon-ASVEL, crowned champion in 2019, will face Charleville-Mézières, qualified in extremis thanks to its many late matches. Basket Landes, third in the regular season, will face Roche Vendée, while the closest quarter-final on paper will pit Lattes-Montpellier against Villeneuve d’Ascq. The teams which score the most points from the two matches will advance to the Final Four.
