The Super League could lose two of its founding members in the coming days.
The announcement of the creation of the Super League, on the night of Sunday to Monday, caused a wave of indignation in England, where six clubs are among the founders. Many voices were raised to oppose the establishment of this new competition, which would be led by twelve major European clubs.
But their desire to turn the continental football landscape upside down for financial gain may well fail. To believe the English press, the BBC especially, Chelsea and Manchester City would already seek to disengage. Also, theAtletico Madrid could follow suit.
If the information from across the Channel were to be confirmed it would be a first victory for UEFA and its Champions League. On the other hand, it would look like a hell of a blow for the remaining members of this Super League, Real Madrid and Juventus Turin in the lead.
